Alstonville Community Preschool

Our Play Spaces

Our educators, in collaboration with children and families have intentionally created educational play spaces and environments here, both indoors and out, that involve children in nature and inspire a love of lifelong learning.

We have two large classrooms and offer a selection of 2 day groups across each week.

Each group has up to 23 children who all attend on the same days and as far as practicable, with the same educators. This allows for a wonderful consistency of relationship, familiarity and belonging between the children, families and educators in each group.

Both classrooms are welcoming, open and carefully set up each day by educators to offer stimulating learning environments and activities for children, using natural materials and resources where possible, in keeping with the nature and slow pedagogy values of the preschool.

We are very well equipped and resourced for implementing high quality learning experiences for 3-5 year olds.

Outdoor Learning

Our beautiful outdoor area offers a variety of play and learning spaces - from digging in the mudpatch to quietly swinging beneath the large camphor laurel tree or gardening with friends, there is something for all children.

"Bushworld"

The children and educators in our Gumnuts Nature Learners program group spend much of their time at preschool playing and learning in the adjacent bushland area of Crawford Park, affectionately known by the children as ‘Bush World’. They are a registered Junior Landcare group and work with the support of local Landcare and Ballina Shire Council towards slow but sure regeneration of our beautiful learning space under the trees.
